The Anchor The Anchor

Name: The Anchor
Built: In the beginning
Length:
Sunk:
Depth: 70 feet
Rating: Intermediate
Description: The Anchor is an extremely large wooden stock anchor from an unknown vessel. This site is a shore dive and can be accessed at "The Gap" - the north end of Highway # 6 between the church and the Bruce Anchor cottage. Many people have told us that they were unable to find the anchor. In order to avoid this problem, follow these directions carefully. Enter the water at the Gap and swim east along the wall starting at a depth of 40 feet. (towards the Chi Cheemaun dock keeping the shore on your right) Follow the edge of the rock wall and the silt bottom. Initially, you will swim along a fairly steep wall. However, when you come to a very large rock standing away from the wall, the wall will flatten out. You are about half way there. Continue following the edge of the rock and silt. Don't give up too soon. It seems to take forever to get there. The total swimming distance is about 250 yards. The anchor is standing upright against the wall at a depth of 60 - 70 feet.

If you are still having trouble locating the anchor, here is a surface reference. The anchor is immediately in front of the 7th building east of The Gap. This is a brown cottage with yellow trim. The anchor is about 75 feet off shore in 60 -70 feet of water at the edge of the rock and silt.
