| Description: |
In October 1871, the Cascaden was bound for the Cove Island Lighthouse with a cargo of
supplies for the lighthouse keeper and his family who were in desperate straits. This 138 ton schooner was wrecked during a gale on the shoals of Cape Hurd. Today it is badly broken up and scattered over a wide area (including the shoreline). This wreck is rarely dived since there is no central location and it parts are scattered over dangerously shallow shoals. |
