Course Description The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle. The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases: Knowledge Development (online or home study) to understand basic principles of scuba diving Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills Open Water Dives to review your skills and explore! The online learning option is called PADI eLearning. If you choose this method, you will sign up online at the PADI web site and complete the knowledge development part of the course online at your own convenience. After you have completed this section, you will come to picturesque Tobermory to complete the confined water and open water dives with one of our expert Instructors. The confined and open water dives usually take two and a half to three days. If you choose the home study method, we will send you the PADI Open Water manual to read at home. Similar to eLearning, you will then come to picturesque Tobermory where one of our Instructors will mark your knowledge reviews and give you the final exam. Afterward, you will complete your confined water and open water dives in our crystal clear waters. This latter portion usually takes two and a half to three days. The fun part about this course is . . . well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe under water for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. You will have the option to visit some of the famous shipwrecks of the Tobermory area. Upon completion of the course you will be certified to scuba dive independently to a depth of 60' or 20m (with a buddy, of course).
