We are frequently asked about our local water temperature. Surprisingly,
this is a very difficult question to answer since the temperature can vary
greatly by year, day, depth and location.
Obviously, the surface temperature gradually increases from Spring to late Summer and cools as Fall approaches. However, the absolute level of this temperature varies with the air temperature and winds. The water temperature for your dive will vary even more widely based on depth and location. For example, the Wetmore is usually one of the warmest sites since it is surrounded by shallow water. The Niagara is usually much cooler and can vary greatly from day to day since it is in deep water and is close to even deeper (and colder) water. Nonetheless, we will be brave and attempt to answer the question 'What is the water temperature?' However, please use this information with caution because it can vary greatly! |
